Classical music and hip-hop collide with joyful smiles :D

I had the honor and privilege of attending “Outside the Bachx” (a world premiere Kennedy Center Co-Comissioned with Full Circle Productions) with pediatric patients and families from Children’s National Medical Center. Bravo to Full Circle Souljahs on a wonderful and inspiring performance – You all ROCK! Thank you for meeting the kids and families after the show and making them feel special. They were ALL smiles (and I was too).
The concept of the show as rather clever: “Wonder what Beethoven and beatboxing would should like together? How about a rap-off with Rachmaninoff? Or Debussy on a drum machine? Well, get ready for classical music and hip-hop to collide in full force…”  I particularly enjoyed the juxtaposition of classical ballet and break-dancing with artists who could do both in the same piece!
Most of all, I LOVED seeing the wonder and joy on the faces of the kids and families, many who had never been to the Kennedy Center before! It was simply magical. A BIG “THANK YOU” go out to CNMC and the Kennedy Center. Here are some of the beautiful smiles from yesterday (posted with the permission of the families):
